Our Team
Led by Michael and Nicole Phelps, the Michael Phelps Foundation is powered by a passionate team committed to expanding access to water safety, mental wellness, and healthy living education for communities around the world.
Our team brings together leaders, educators, advocates, and partners who share a commitment to helping young people feel safe, supported, and confident.
Together, we are working to help young people build confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills that empower them to thrive in and out of the water.

Michael Phelps
FOUNDER
Michael Phelps is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, earning a record-setting 23 Olympic gold medals and setting 39 world records throughout his historic swimming career.
Following his record-breaking performance at the 2008 Olympic Games, Phelps established the Michael Phelps Foundation to help expand access to water safety, healthy living, and wellness education for young people around the world.
In 2015, Michael publicly shared his personal experiences with mental health, becoming one of the most influential athlete voices helping advance the national conversation around emotional wellbeing and mental wellness in sports and beyond.
Today, his advocacy for water safety and mental wellness continues to shape the Foundation’s mission of empowering people to thrive in and out of the water through confidence-building, healthy living, and lifelong skills development.
